The Blue Lady

The original concept designs came out of a character design class I took in college. I later carried the design into the following semester for a shading programing to model and texture. It became somewhat of a trend for students to take the character design class in the fall and then use that character in a shading or digital sculpting class during the winter semester.

For me, the thought process was that I would get plenty of feedback from my professor and friends while developing the character, allowing me to create a really strong design that I could then turn into a solid modeling portfolio piece.

She is affectionately called the “Blue Lady,” and a lot of her inspiration came from the character Chang’e from Over the Moon. I also imagined her as a kind of water goddess, which helped shape her overall design, colors, and flowing forms.

TThe head dresses and different hair styles ending up being my personal summer project!
